inhabitants. In 1130 it was mentioned for the first time as“Stevenchirgen”.

In medieval times there was the castle of the Bavarian dukes on the

Schlossberg, which is situated above Rosenheim at the river Inn.

Later there were parts of the saline there.

Sights:

- Biggest “world-art-clock” from 1880 at the restaurant Gocklwirt

- Church St. Magdalena in Baierbach, mentioned for the first time in 1448

- Church “zu den Hl. Vierzehn Nothelfern“ (the 14 holy helpers in times of need), built in 1654

- Church St. Leonhard, mentioned in a document in 1416

- Chapel with a curative well in Bad Leonhardspfunzen 

Today Stephanskirchen, especially Schlossberg, is one of the most popular residential areas of the district of Rosenheim as it is situated on the outskirts of Rosenheim in rural surroundings which offer a lot of leisure amenities as well as the possibility of doing sports.
